2022 Easter Holiday Fun For Families In Byron Bay And Surrounds
8 April, 2022
I was just looking back at the last school holidays post I wrote at the end of last year which started with –
It’s been a funny old time and not funny haha. A year of unending disruptions, changes, cancellations, setbacks, knock backs, stops and starts and stops again… most days we don’t know if we’re coming or going.
Disappointingly, nothing much has changed. In fact for many in our region, things have gotten decidedly worse following the extreme weather events and subsequent devastating floods and landslides.
March was a helluva month and for many that is still ongoing and will be for quite some time to come. There are countless posts on social media filled with both tragic and heroic stories underscored by a deep gratitude for our community that has pulled together in unprecedented ways to support each other through this crisis and continues to do so. 💙
I guess what I want to say is whether you are a visitor or a local – tread lightly and treat people with kindness. Many people are hanging on by a thread – many are displaced, unable to return to their homes, their businesses, at times feeling quite hopeless about the future and how to pick things up again. Resilient, generous and humble folk whose nerves are frayed, whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered. 💔
That waiter in a restaurant, that shop assistant or shop owner, that receptionist, that event staff – all normally attentive, gracious, smiling – just remember that their mind might be elsewhere right now – figuring out how they are going to manage another week in temporary accommodation, how their beloved pet is faring as it has to be fostered out, feeling sad about their personal belongings that were destroyed and wondering what can be replaced. Your kindness, patience and compassion will make a world of difference this holidays. Thank you 💛
These holidays also represent an opportunity to come together and use this time as form of emotional and physical recovery. A chance to lift our spirits and on that note, let’s take a look at all the wonderful activities and events that local businesses and organisations are putting on for kids and families to enjoy this school holidays.
ALL EVENTS LISTED MAY BE RESTRICTED OR CANCELLED AT SHORT NOTICE DUE TO EXTREME WEAHTER OR RAPID REINTRODUCTION OF COVID RESTRICTIONS.
PLEASE CHECK WITH ORGANISER FIRST.
