The Easter holidays are upon us and it’s time to hop into local events, workshops, and activities that are perfect for kids and families!
Autumn is a colourful season and these holidays are a wonderful opportunity to have fun, get creative, and make memories together. Whether you’re looking to relax during the break or add a splash of adventure, local businesses and activity providers have teamed up to offer options that cater to every interest and budget. From half-day workshops to full-day events, there’s plenty to keep your kids – from tots to teens – inspired and entertained.

GET ACTIVE
Circus Arts Byron Bay and Let’s Go Surfing both run their activities to cover the QLD and NSW Autumn break, opening their programs on Monday 7 April. It is worth noting that they are both closed on all Public Holidays – Easter Friday through to Easter Monday and Anzac Day on 25 April.

Circus Arts pack their programs with a range of fun circus activities. Choose from full or half day programs and extend by adding special holiday options including Ninja or Parkour. It’s also good to know that they have a magical indoor circus playground suitable for ages 1-10. If rain is on the horizon – it’s good to book a spot in advance. Let’s Go Surfing is the only surf school that uses Byron Bay Beaches. They offer daily, 2-hour, kids-only group lessons for ages 7 to 13 year olds and the session includes all equipment and expert instruction in small groups. Lessons have been designed to provide education, maximum fun and safety for your kids covering the basics from warm-up to paddling, catching waves and standing while also catering to intermediate and advanced students (technique refinement and style improvement). Spaghetti Circus are offering just 3 magical days of circus holiday classes at the end of the holidays (Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 April 2025) so get in quick! Half day classes for 4-6 years and full day for 6 – 14 years with early drop-off available. Heaps of circus activities to enjoy including tightrope, trapeze, trampoline, German wheel, hula hoops, juggling and more!
We’ve got some pretty good skateparks here and I can highly recommend Jarjumirr Skatepark in Byron Bay but if you really want to up your skills, why not come and spend a day at Byron Bay Skateboard School Holiday Skate Camp. These super popular sessions run Tuesday to Thursday both weeks of the holidays and are a unique and fun experience for kids age 6 – 12 years old. Suitable for all levels of skateboarding – from beginners to advanced, the session takes place at their purpose-built coaching facility in Byron Industrial Estate.

Lace up your skates and join Rollerworld Lismore for one of their popular holiday skating sessions. Open daily, you can glide and groove – roller-skate or rollerblade – to your favourite tunes on wheels, enjoying a two hour session of skating fun, music, games and more. There’s an onsite cafe with hot and cold snacks and drinks available.
A school holiday favourite! Kids love Farm Kids Byron Bay holiday program. Choose from hands-on 3-hour farm-themed workshop – think, nature craft, citrus herbs, flowers and more! Want more? Try their hugely popular full day Mini Farmers experiences which run from 9am to 3pm Suitable for 5-15 y/o, this full day program introduces children to real life farming.

Discover the excitement of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail – perfect for kids and families. Walk, ride, and explore the scenic routes between Murwillumbah & Crabbes Creek (24km) or Casino to Bentley (13.4km), enjoying breathtaking views, bridges and tunnels! A new recently completed part of the trail opened in early December from Lismore station, providing a safe off-road route for cyclists, walkers and horse-riders to travel from Lismore to Bentley. This new section of the trail links up with the Casino-Bentley trail which opened earlier this year.
Are your kids just hanging around these school holidays?
Get them off the screens and get them moving and interacting at Climbing Jungle’s awesome School Holiday Program. With half and full day options, their program includes fun activities and games with bouldering, auto-belay and top-rope climbing suitable for all levels of fitness (all climbing gear included). These fun sessions help to build children’s strength, confidence, problem solving abilities, plus your child will love the social aspect, make a few friends and get excited about being active.
BE CREATIVE

Craft Social is Byron Bay’s newest spot for fun and creativity! Offering hands-on craft workshops for primary school aged kids during school holidays, with exciting activities including creating a gorgeous fairy garden or having a spa day! They provide all the materials you just bring your creativity and get ready to have a blast.
Young chefs can get creative at North Byron Hotel and learn from the best, as head Chef takes time to teach kids how to make their very own pizza from scratch– from dough to toppings in a state-of-the-art pizza oven or learn the secrets of gnocchi-making. Cook their chosen creation to perfection and devour for lunch along with a drink and dessert! Suitable for ages 5 -13 years.

Swap boredom for brilliance at Home Makers Club with their delightful range of fun-filled creative sessions packed with imagination and play. From hands-on crafts to playful painting, there’s something for every young maker to enjoy. Spaces are limited to 10 children per session but private bookings are available for a minimum of four children so why not give the kids a morning of artistic fun while you enjoy some well-earned downtime!
Come explore and celebrate queer creativity, storytelling, and self-expression with Queer Family Northern Rivers at the Northern Rivers Zine Fair in Kyogle! It’s not just zines, there’s a whole afternoon of music, activities and fun in store – a family friendly event for Young Queerios, Rainbow Families & the whole community! Plus Create & Grow is a free program for LGBTQIA+ and Questioning young people who are interested in making friends and learning skills in homesteading, gardening, permaculture and more!

Located in the heart of Byron Bay, take your kids on a journey of discovery and exploration of the creative arts with Art & Wine Co Suitable for ages 5-15 years, the sessions will explore a range of mediums including paint, clay, collage and illustration. Join the delightfully creative WILDFLOWERS Easter workshops from Studio 65 – Creative Hub on Byron Arts & Industrial Estate. Across four different dates, Studio 65 will be hosting fun and dynamic art classes for kids aged 10-13, where they will have the opportunity to expand their fine art skills, meet new faces and be inspired to express their unique creative instincts through guided techniques in a playful and artistic celebration of Mother Nature’s beauty. Designed for NDIS participants, Auscare Support have an absolutely fantastic line up of Social Clubs with the Kidz Club suitable for ages 6 – 12 and the Teenz Club for ages 13 – 16. From tenpin bowling to social gaming, Lego, craft, slime, tie-dyeing S.T.E.A.M creations, and more, it can be paid for with NDIS funding – Core and Capacity Building. Join Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary for a hopping good time these holidays with their huge SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
• Bunny Petting everyday at The Sanctuary, included with Park Entry.

Cherry Street Sports and Club Lennox Sports have plenty of FREE kid and family friendly activities and events happening over the Easter holidays. There’s heaps of fun to be had with long time favourites Mr Brad from Fitness Kidz and Miss Beka who will be part of the eggciting Easter Egg Hunts. Following a huge hit last holidays, there’s also all-abilities soccer skills with the Rainbow Roos, plus Kids Art & Craft with KidzKlub Australia There’s even pizza making fun and kids yoga to be had at Club Lennox Sports.

Ballina Tenpin Bowl is open almost day of the school holidays and is the perfect all-weather entertainment option to enjoy a super fun morning or arvo social bowling and Putt Putt with family or friends. They have a school holiday special price on Tenpin Bowling and light up the lanes for GLOW bowling sessions. Ballina RSL are putting on some fantastic entertainment for kids these holidays. Not to be missed is Ventriloquist Natalie May on Tuesday 15 April and The Magical World of Crazy Science on Tuesday 22 April. Suitable for all ages, these performances will be a hit – make sure you book tickets soon!

Choose from five family friendly movies showing at Palace Cinema Byron Bay and Palace Cinema Ballina Fair. Both movie theatres are thrilled to be presenting Minecraft, Snow White, Dog Man, The Day The Earth Blew Up and King of Kings. Visit Palace Cinemas for showing times and bookings.
And Easter holidays in our beautiful region would not be complete without mentioning Byron Bay Blues Fest. Showcasing music from around the world annually on the Easter long weekend on 120 hectares at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, just north of Byron Bay. Bluesfest presents over 200 performances with up to 7 stages over 5, 12 hour days, as well as camping for up to 6,000 people, 5 licensed bars, over 100 food and market stalls, undercover food courts, beer gardens, and being a family friendly festival – some great children’s entertainment!
